AssamStudyAi ("AssamStudyAi", "we", "us", "our") operates the AssamStudyAi website and application (the "Service") available at assamstudyai.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described here and in our Terms of Service.
1. Information We Collect
- Account details: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile information (name, email, profile photo) Google shares with us. If you use a password instead, it is stored securely and is never visible to us in plain text.
- Student profile: name, class, district, school, preferred language and a contact mobile number, which are required to complete registration. They are used to personalise your study experience and district-level rankings, and the mobile number lets our team contact you about your account and studies.
- Team code: an optional code you may enter at registration. It links your account to the AssamStudyAi team that introduced you, so that team's staff can see your name, class, school, district and mobile number in order to support you. It never changes your access to the Service.
- Study activity: the content you generate and interact with (notes, essays, exam papers, chat conversations), your quiz results, study time, and progress/reward activity on the platform.
- Parent monitoring code: an optional passcode you may choose to share with a parent or guardian so they can view your study activity.
- Technical information: basic device and usage information collected automatically to keep the Service secure and reliable.
- Notification token: if you allow notifications, we store a notification address for your browser or device (in the Android app, a token issued by Google Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can send you study and account notifications. It is removed when you sign out or turn notifications off.
- Payment information: if you purchase a Pro subscription, payment is handled by a secure, PCI-DSS compliant third-party payment gateway (on the website) or by Google Play (in the Android app). We do not collect, see, or store your card, UPI, or net-banking details — we only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, so we can activate your subscription.
2. How AI Features Use Your Content
When you use an AI-powered feature (Notes, Essay, Grammar, Exam, MCQ generation, or the AI Chat Assistant), the relevant text and, where applicable, photos you take or images or PDF documents you upload are processed using trusted AI technology to generate a response tailored to your syllabus. If you use voice input, the microphone is used only after you tap the microphone button and stops when you tap it again (or after 60 seconds); nothing is recorded in the background. The recording is cleaned on your device (silence and background noise reduced) and sent securely to our server, which uses Google's Gemini AI to turn it into text that is placed in your message box for you to check before sending. We do not keep your voice recordings on our own servers. On devices where this is not available, the speech recognition built into your phone or browser (usually a Google service) is used instead, and we receive only the text.
How Google handles this content. Our AI features currently run on the unpaid tier of Google's Gemini API. What you send to an AI feature (typed questions, photos, images, PDF documents and voice recordings), along with your class and language and the AI's responses, goes to Google. Under Google's terms for this tier, Google may use it to improve its products and develop machine learning technologies, and human reviewers may read, annotate and process it. We do not add your name, email address, mobile number or school to these requests, but anything you type, say or upload is sent as it is.
Your typed questions are also sent to Cloudflare, which turns them into a numeric form used to find relevant textbook passages. Cloudflare states that it does not use this content to train AI models.
Chat conversations are retained only for a short period necessary to keep a conversation coherent and to maintain quality and safety of the Service, after which they are deleted.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, personalise, and improve the Service, including notes, exams, and MCQs tailored to your class and syllabus;
- To operate our progress-tracking, rewards, and leaderboard features fairly, and to detect and prevent misuse;
- To power the optional Parent Dashboard, when you choose to share your parent passcode with a parent or guardian;
- To send essential account communications (such as password resets), to contact you on the mobile number you gave us about your account and studies, and to respond if you contact us;
- To maintain the security, integrity, and reliability of the Service.
4. Who We Share Information With
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information, only as needed to operate the Service, with trusted service providers in the following categories:
- Cloud hosting & database providers — to securely store your account and study data;
- AI technology providers — Google, to generate AI-assisted study content and for Google's own use described in Section 2, and Cloudflare, to find relevant textbook passages;
- Payment processors — to securely handle subscription payments, as described in Section 1;
- Sign-in providers — if you choose to sign in with Google;
- Communication tools — to deliver messages you send us through contact/feedback forms.
Except for Google's use of AI content described in Section 2, our service providers may use your information only to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users, or in connection with a business transition such as a merger or acquisition (in which case affected users will be notified).
5. Children's Privacy & Parental Consent
AssamStudyAi is designed for school students, many of whom are minors. We take this seriously:
- At sign-up, every user confirms they are either 18 or older, or have the permission of a parent or guardian to use AssamStudyAi — see our Terms of Service;
- We collect only the information needed to provide the Service, and do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data from any user;
- AI content, including a student's, is handled by Google as described in Section 2;
- The optional Parent Dashboard gives parents and guardians direct visibility into a student's study activity;
- A parent or guardian may contact us at any time to review, correct, or request deletion of their child's account and data, and we will act on verified requests.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account and profile information for as long as your account is active. Study activity, rewards, and leaderboard history are retained in line with the reward periods described in our Terms of Service.
If you delete your account in the app, the records stored under your account (profile, login, study progress, rewards, saved chat memory, notifications, and similar) are deleted immediately. Before deletion we archive an internal deletion record (including your name, email, school, district, class, deletion reason, subscription details, and recent sign-in and device history), which we keep for 90 days and then delete automatically. Payment records are kept, without a link to your profile, for as long as needed for legal, tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention purposes. A few records that carry only an internal account ID, and no name, email, or contact details, remain: AI usage counts (for usage statistics), the shared study-material cache, past leaderboard archive entries (from which your name is removed automatically), and an internal RankWar backup. Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription — cancel it in Google Play first. Full details are on our Delete Account page.
7. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate profile information (most fields are editable directly in your account);
- Delete your account and associated personal data;
- Withdraw consent for optional features, such as the Parent Dashboard or Google Sign-In;
- Raise questions or concerns about how your data is used.

8. Security
We apply industry-standard technical and organisational safeguards — including encrypted connections, access controls, and secure authentication practices — to protect your information. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we work continuously to protect your data.
9. International Data Handling
AssamStudyAi is built for students in Assam, India. Some of our service providers may process or store data as part of their global infrastructure, and where this occurs, they are contractually bound to appropriate data-protection standards.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves. We will update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we will make reasonable efforts to notify active users in-app before the change takes effect.
